Nigerians have no constituency and it's refreshing to hear you guys talk about it without mincing words.

There’s really nothing significant to see here — just evangelicals trying to stir up their base. There’s no realistic scenario in which the U.S. would attack Nigeria, and Trump knows exactly what he’s doing. Let’s not forget his party just suffered major losses to the Democrats in the midterms.

I agree that having an ambassador in place would have helped; that person would’ve been the convenient fall guy in this situation. Still, it’s unfair to suggest that Nigeria has “lost its place” simply because of Trump’s empty threat. He’s known to attack anyone of influence except Israel — this is the same man who keeps threatening to annex Canada. Were we ever more prominent than Canada?

Meanwhile, that 15% import levy is nothing short of the elite scamming the masses. It’s unfair, offers no real benefit to ordinary Nigerians, and exposes the widening disconnect between policy and people. It’s even more absurd when the naira is appreciating, yet fuel prices keep rising. Frankly, everyone should be up in arms against its implementation.

These are the issues. There is a threat to your country, and some people are busy welcoming a local politician into their political party. Unbelievable!

"The only outcome of Nigerian politics is more politics."

Felt that in my bones, and it is sadly so true.

Nigeria has no clout? Honestly? That Trump is threatening Nigeria is an indication that we have some clout! Do you think that Trump will pay attention to Papua New Guinea or Samoa in the same situation?

I am not sure why you think the two are linked. Trump threatens everybody at this point, so I don't think that proves clout. He imposed a tariff on an island populated by Penguins! Clearly there's people lobbying hard for this issue behind the scenes, and he thinks it's aligns with his scammy Christian Nationalist MAGA movement.

What Nigeria represents is not collective wellbeing and prosperity. It has never been and it will never be. It is a colonial enclave held captive by capricious and identity politics brought upon by its incompatible diversity. This contraption needs to be broken down into smaller nations.
